Sadak is a 1991 Bollywood film. The film stars Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt in the leading roles. This film is inspired by Robert de Niro starred 'Taxi Driver'(1976). It was made famous by the excellent portrayal of a eunuch Maharani by Sadashiv Amrapurkar who is an evil brothel madam which employs many girls including the characters of Pooja Bhatt and Neelima Azim. Sanjay Dutt's character who is a taxi driver meets Pooja before she gets bought by Maharani. His friend Deepak Tijori is in love with Neelima Azeem's character who is also under her employ. The story shows how Sanjay and Pooja come together. The title Sadak is urdu for Road and signifies the place where the poor Sanjay/Deepak live.
The movie had superhit music by Nadeem Shravan duo and released by T-series. Some of the songs are as follows:-
Anuradha Paudhwal's singing was specially appreciated in the songs. The lyrics were by Samir.
Sadashiv Amrapurkar got the first Filmfare Awards for Best Villian.
